It’s time for my facial cleanser to get a little shout-out!
We all know that I love my oils– I swear that by using a cleansing oil everyday, it’s literally transformed my face.
But, every now and again I like to wash with an actual cleanser and really do a spa treatment on myself. I’ll wash my face, use a hot towel to remove it (I know, I know, super fancy), then apply a purifying mask, (use the hot towel to remove said mask), and follow up with this moisturizer and this eye cream– (post to come).
Now, this beauty steal I’m about to share, is a serious serious game changer. I really can’t say that my face has ever felt so soft and… well, clean. Shocking I know because isn’t a face wash supposed to make you feel clean??
Now, before you get worried that this “clean” feeling is going to leave your face tight and dry like it did circa 2001 when we were all using Noxcema or Neutrogena, just bear with me and continue reading. Because this stuff is legit. And the way your face feels after using it is quite the opposite.
I present to you: Cleansing Milk by Juice Beauty. And yes, it feels just like how you think it would.
Now, I know I’ve dished on my slight obsesh with Juice Beauty over the last few weeks, but this line is just too good to not basically own one of everything they sell. (See the post on my lip stuff here, my moisturizer here, and my brightening mask here.)
It is super important to make sure you’re washing your face everyday. Obviously, it’s a must-do because it gets rid of the day’s dirt and grime and makeup, but it also washes away the nastiness you get from air pollution.
Yes. air pollution. According to this source:
“The latest research shows that pollution is also aging our skin. The culprit: an increase in minuscule particles and liquid droplets of pollution in the air so tiny that they lodge in pores. “These environmental impurities destroy skin’s natural oils, which act as a protective barrier,” says New York dermatologist Dennis Gross. “That leaves skin exposed to free radicals and leads to collagen breakdown, aging, cell damage, redness, and irritation.” These toxins also create a physical barrier that prevents treatment products from penetrating. And no one, from the Hamptons to Hampstead, is immune. According to one recent study, more than 80 percent of the world’s population now breathes polluted air that exceeds the World Health Organization’s air-quality guidelines.
Pollution speeds up the development of lines, wrinkles, and dark spots,” says New York dermatologist Joshua Zeichner, “and it may also contribute to the development of skin cancers. That’s why it’s so important to cleanse in a way that removes the particulate matter from your pores.” Those on beauty’s front lines agree. “If you don’t wash your face properly before bed, you are not allowing skin’s natural repair process to take place,” says Joanna Vargas, a facialist to radiant A-listers like Michelle Williams. “I guarantee you will wake up to puffier eyes, darker circles, breakouts, and less elasticity.”
So you see, washing your skin every.single.day is crucial if you don’t want to become a member of the California Raisins anytime soon. (Anyone remember those guys?)
The moisturizer I mentioned above is amazing for blocking out pollution from your pores too, so I would 100% recommend getting that to further aid in keeping your skin young and pretty.
