Today’s topic is toothpaste. Specifically organic, healthy toothpaste.
Oh, and I’m also letting you know what kind of nonsense you’re probably currently squeezing onto your toothbrush, and after this post I guarantee you, you will be tossing those nasty tubes of toothpaste away and heading to store to buy my newest fave.
The name alone is fun and cute and I enjoy seeing it on my counter every morning.

Are you convinced to switch yet?
Btw, this post isn’t sponsored in any way. I was legit scrolling through the many beauty pages of Target when I stumbled across hello. The second it arrived on my doorstep, Crest was in the trash and this beauty immediately took its place on my counter. I honestly think it tastes great and cleans my mouth really well.
There’s no insane burning sensation or any awful eye-watering because the other toothpastes are too strong…
Just a light, refreshing clean feeling.
Definitely check out hello’s mission and story here.
Ok, we’ve discussed why hello is beyond amaze, let’s chat about why your current toothpaste is not. K?
Toothpaste Ingredients Ya Need To Avoid
It’s an antibacterial chemical that is used to help fight plaque and gingivitis, BUT it has also been linked to breast, ovarian, prostate, and testicular cancer,
preterm and low birth weight babies.
+ Sodium Laurel Sulfate (SLS)-
Surfactants like SLS are chemicals responsible for the foaming action of the toothpaste, but they also interfere with the functioning of your taste buds
by breaking up the phospholipids on your tongue.
These chemicals enhance bitter tastes and have been linked to be
the cause of canker sores and skin irritation.
SLS is also registered as an insecticide and may have toxic effects to marine life, including fish, insects, and crustaceans. I mean, do you really wanna hurt sea animals??
+ Artificial Sweeteners-
Aspartame is primarily made up of aspartic acid and phenylalanine. The phenylalanine has been synthetically modified to carry a methyl group, which provides the majority of the sweetness.
That phenylalanine methyl bond, called a methyl ester, is very weak, which allows the methyl group on the phenylalanine to easily break off and form methanol.
Humans are not equipped to break down that methanol into harmless formic acid, so too much of it can result in methanol poisoning and tissue damage.
+ Propylene Glycol-
Propylene glycol is a type of mineral oil that, in the industrial grade, is used in antifreeze, paints, enamels, and airplane de-icers.
^ That is fucking disgusting.
+ Diethanolamine (DEA)-
DEA is a known hormone disrupter and can react with other ingredients to form a potential carcinogen called NDEA (N-nitrosodiethanolamine), which is readily absorbed through the skin and has been linked with cancers of the stomach, esophagus, liver, and bladder.
Microbeads are tiny plastic pellets found in body washes, facial scrubs, toothpaste, and more. The microbeads go down your drain, through the filters at most wastewater treatment plants, and out into the environment. Plastic microbeads absorb toxins from the water and are eaten by a wide variety of marine life and even humans.

Idk why anyone would continue using sick-o Colgate or Crest after reading all that.
Make the switch and lemme know what you think!
I’m off to make some Calm tea and head to bed. Night night!
