Do you remember being in 7th or 8th grade and not even paying attention at all to what the teacher was saying because you were super busy writing notes and folding them a million times to make a tiny origami square??
My best friend and I used to have a notebook that we would just pass back and forth to each other so it looked like we were just sharing class notes. #Genius
I miss those days of gel pens and several sheets of paper going to notes like
“hey gurl, waz up? Wat r u doing l8r?”
I mean, it’s a wonder that we all graduated English classes with verbiage like that.
Sadly though, the newest generation of peeps will never know the struggle of passing notes in class and not getting caught, or having to figure out how to re-fold the notes into the insane shapes we used to fold them into.
Now everything is just done through text message.
BTW, am I the only one who thinks it’s absolutely insane to see a 12 year old with a cell phone??
Any who, letter writing.
I’ve recently gotten back into handwritten letters because every time I go to Target (my second home), I always peruse through the $1 section and snag up packs of cards. I never know what I’m going to do with them, but they’re cute as fuck, so obvi I have to buy them.
I recently had a use for all the packs of note cards I hoard, and I def wanna keep it going.
I think it’s so nice to reconnect with people through a well thought out letter.
PLUS, who doesn’t like to get something other than junk mail in their mailbox??
Make it a thing to send family members you don’t really talk to a nice note once a month. It doesn’t have to be pages long, just something quick to let them know you’re thinking about them. And def make it a point for birthdays and holidays.
I’ve busted out some colorful pens and markers and legit am gonna go 7th grade on my letters- writing in fun colors I mean. I’m not going to write like I did in 7th grade. Idk how well “waz up?? Kk, TTYL8rz”, would go over with my aunt. HA
I have about 5 different notecard sets to choose from so I can make sure each note is different.
It’s so easy to get caught up in texts and emails, but we really need to get back to pre-technology days every once in a while.
If you still write out letters, comment below so I’m not the only one wishing we could go back to 2001.
Off to organize my notecards. I literally have them everywhere.
