Ok, so I know that the title is basically LVP’s intro on Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills, but I’m reading this amazing book and the author says it too, so I had to use it.
Not to mention, it’s just a really badass phrase and you feel strong and like you can conquer the world just saying it. So there’s that.
I recently bought one of the best books ever on one of my traditional weekend visits to Barnes and Noble and I can’t put it down. It’s called Daring & Disruptive by Lisa Messenger, and its all about how to be a entrepreneur who just doesn’t care what other people think and inspires you to just keep going even though you may run into obstacles.
I just finished chapter 1 and it really resonated with me and I think the struggles of every newbie blogger or biz owner, so I wanted to share my takeaways.
+ Self-Belief is Key! I personally have major issues with this, but I’m working on it. In order to really have that ” I can do this no matter what” attitude, you have to believe that you can do anything. You have to have that confidence and believe that even though 10 doors just slammed in your face, the next one will be open.
“To succeed in business- hell, to succeed in anything in life- you must have an unwavering, insatiable, tenacious belief in yourself”
+ You cannot wait around for the approval of others. Basically, if you’re waiting around on 30 people to all approve your next big idea or something you want to start that you’re passionate about, you’re wasting time. Not everyone is going to love your idea and if you don’t just go for it because YOU like it, you’ll never get anywhere. Believe in your idea and in yourself and make it happen.
+ Believe in yourself and watch amazing things start to happen. Lisa says that as your belief grows, you subconsciously start to trust your gut instinct and build that confidence and things just start to happen.
“Don’t be a pedestrian, beige, or follow the status quo. Make change, have attitude! Live life viscerally, get up when you fall down, be brave, be bold, be gutsy. Expose yourself to the best things that humans have done & bring them into your business.”
Ok, let’s switch gears and talk outfit deets. Arthur and I were enjoying a BBQ on our patio in our (not so aesthetically pleasing backyard), when I decided I was in love with my super comfy, yet chic outfit and we needed an impromptu photoshoot. I kinda like the dirty, grittiness of the pics though and my girls got to make an appearance so that makes them even better.
Entire outfit is (OF COURSE), Forever 21. You babes know how much of a bargain shopper I am, so I’m always going to snag up at least 15 new outfit pieces for only $150. #NoShame
You can find the top here and the comfiest, cutest floral pants here. I love this look. It can either be dressed up with some wedges for a date night, or worn with cute sandals for brunch or running errands. I’ll basically be living in this.
Idk what it is, but palazzo pants are legit my thing lately. My closet is slowly being taken over palazzo’s in every color and pattern.
Ok, I’m off to finish Total Divas and enjoy my Summer inspired cocktail (Tito’s, blueberries, mixed berry lemonade, and a splash of soda).
