What’s happening in Houston is devastating and everyone needs to come together to do what we can to help.
The stats above are continuing to grow and thousands of people are going to need help rebuilding not only their homes, but their lives, and giving even just $10, blood, time, supplies.. Whatever you can afford to give, will help.
According this source, while wanting to hop into a car and drive to Houston and the surrounding areas is on a lot of people’s mind, it’s not advised at this time.
“Forrester says that the need for volunteers beyond those locally based will be growing in the coming weeks. NVOAD has created an online volunteer form, which NVOAD and AmeriCorps will use to tap volunteers as the needs grow in the area.
“If they’re from outside the area, we’re asking please don’t deploy. Fill out our form and there will be an opportunity at some point that we’ll pair you up with an organization that you’ll then be able to serve within the area during the recovery side,”
Monetary donations are the biggest help since they can be disbursed accordingly:
+ The Texas Diaper Bank is asking for diapers.
+ American Red Cross:text HARVEY to 90999 to donate $10, or visit their website to donate more.
+ Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund accepts donations.
Visit this link for more ways to donate.
Animals def need our help too!
+ Best Friends,Houston Humane Society, and several other local rescues are helping animals get reunited with their families, aiding rescues in getting animals to safety, and rescuing animals who have been abandoned. Make a monetary donation so they can continue to save animals in need and get them medical attention or food and water and supplies.
There’s so many ways we can help, so do whatever you can! I’ve donated and am currently looking into creating care packages for the animal rescues in Texas- every little bit helps!
