Happy Tuesday, guys!!
Hopefully everyone made in through their Monday. It was sunny and 75 out (daydreaming of San Diego weather, which is where I will be in a few weeks, HALLELUJAH).
I cannot wait to eat real Mexican food and see my family.
Arthur has never been to the BEST coast, so I’m crazy excited to show him around SD. I know he’ll fall in love and wanna move out there asap.
But more on that topic later. Back to to the subject of this post.
Basically, I get a lot of questions from people wanting to start their own blog, asking about creating content- where do you find inspiration for posts, where do you get the info for the topic you’re blogging about, where do you get sponsored posts from, etc.
Basically, for me, when I became a blogger, suddenly everything in my life became an idea for a blog post.
When I’m making a regular old chicken dinner, I try to fancy it up because I instantly think “recipe post!”. When I’m at Target buying beauty products, or I see the dollar section and all the cute things they have, I instantly think “what kind of post can I create using these adorable clip boards and buckets?”
It’s almost like a curse because I start buying things I really don’t need but know would make a really cute photo prop. (Sorry, Arthur!)
When I read a really good book, I come across about 20 different quotes that inspire me just in the first 2 chapters and voila! 5 or 6 “get off your ass and hustle” posts have been formed. Reading is truly the most helpful when it comes to finding inspo and ideas. Pick up a good book (check out my faves here, here, and here), and I promise that after 15 minutes of reading, the ideas will flow from your head.
Pinterest is super helpful too. I’ll come across something amazing and tweak it to fit my lifestyle or the theme of A Lifestyle Daily and in one 10 min Pinterest pinning session, I’ve come up with some fun ideas to try and share with you guys!
I came up with the idea for this post filing papers at work. (See, ideas just pop up randomly 99% of the time).
Every now and then, I’ll get writers block and in those cases, I make a fun collage of all the products I’m loving lately, or I’ll just write about a bunch of things going on and share pictures I haven’t posted to social media.
Life in general can just inspire you to find things to write about and share with your readers.
Heck, blog about a typical day for you if you’re busting your butt building your business, working full time, and still have time to do things you love. I love those posts because they really motivate me to keep going.
They’re great reminders that everyone started off working 40-50 hours a week while growing their business or blog and now they’re doing what they love full-time, so all those sleepless nights are well worth it if you want to work your passion FT within the next 2-3 years.
There’s really no fancy tricks or anything for coming up with content, just pull from daily things going on in your life or things you already do and don’t mind sharing with other people. And don’t be afraid to get a little weird on your blog either! If you’ve got a strange but effective beauty tip, SHARE. Everyone loves off the wall shit.
If you have any other blogging or just general questions, comment them below or tweet me!
I’ll make a regular Q & A series and answer any questions you have!
